Bob's People

Imagine you are working on a Saturday. You have a job which requires you to Run around, move your arms, process info, and make certain calls. This is the job of a soccer ref. As you are running around trying to do your best to make all the calls you happen to look down at your watch for a Milli-second to see if you are running the game too long. During that Milli-second that you have your head down just about every thing that you can call during the game happens. How do you know that this happens? Well, As your head is on its way up, Every Coach, assistant coach, substitute, water boy, parent and their dogs yell at you saying that you should call some huge thing that you miss during the Milli-second your head was down. You shake your head saying that you didn't see it. All the people take what you did and think  "Hm. This ref doesn't care about Bob's (FYI: bob is the name of every kid on every soccer team) Future in becoming the worlds best soccer player ever. We should yell at him for every tiny little think that he does wrong." The sad part of it is they don't just think this, they actually do. Every little thing down to not having my shoe tied being against regulation they yell at you. They yell things like "HEY THEY THOUGHT ABOUT MY SON FUNNY! GIVE HIM A YELLOW CARD!"   "WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL THAT REF?!?" "THAT IS A RULE YOU KNOW!" "DO YOU NEED GLASSES REF?". That list goes on and on. It sort of gets to you after a while. You start to think why do people like this live? Is their sole purpose in life just to annoy to no end innocent refs like me? Why do they even care any ways? Most of the kids are just there for the treats at the end. 

These people are among us. If you are one of those people that enjoy doing this there is still hope for you.  I myself liked it until last spring when I became a ref. Now look at me, See how much I have changed. I'm writing this blog! And so if you happen to treat yelling at the refs as a sport, please change. Now. Not every body likes it.
